Very interesting place. Was told this was the best food in town. (yes, i know, few options, but would say good food even compared to most tavern/pub/bar food.) super interesting decor if you allow yourself to get absorbed into the community history. Our server Shay was beyond knowledeable and MUST be a great asset to the Restaurant with her recommendactions and knowledge. Very energetic & friendly. (As the matter of fact, everyone is very friendly & helpful in this town We ordered the prime rib sandwich & monterey chicken. Huge portions. Both were delicious as well the fries.

It's a nice restaurant up the mountain of Crown King :-) Although they will need more servers on a busy day because they only had one when we dined in on a Monday afternoon(which is okay because it wasnt busy at all) The server is so great. She entertained & just being nice to a 4yr old girl that was with us. Food wise: I ordered Philly Steak Sandwich w/ a side or fries. At first I was disappointed to see a half face Philly but as soon as i had a bite I couldn't stop and their fries are of the fryer & not a frozen fries.

I'd like to update that since my first review I've received quite a few colorful private messages from the regulars. One even said, in so many words, that I talk pretty. I'm not suggesting that the employees are prompting these folks to harass me but after some easy research it's a little obvious. I just want to point out the level of "mill"billy you'll deal with upon leaving something other than a stellar review for The Mill. Keep that in mind.

Sloooww service. But what do you expect in Crown King?? We came in with a group of 6 and the place was packed to the gills. Some kind of annual spring chili fest was going on at the Saloon. We were seated right away but we had to literally go into the kitchen and get our own cups and pitcher of water. We finally ordered our food. Then we waited, and waited, and waited...ran out of water and waited...finally our food comes out. It was fresh for sure. We were so hungry we would have eaten the table by now. The food was decent. I got chicken strips and fries. A large portion and enough to share. Then we waited for our bill...and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally we went up to the bar and paid there. I'm not sure if I would come back here as it took a very long time even for a small town. I understand this is Crown King but we have a long journey ahead to get back home and if you want us to stop here ever again you will need to be a bit more prompt. I can understand if the kitchen is backed up but the cash register is not. At least keep the water and bill coming. Generous 3 star review.

Food was wonderful. Drinks were perfect. Everyone needs to take the drive to enjoy this location. It's a must visit.

This place was great, and the waitress (Shay) was one of the best we have ever had. We got the cowboy special, and it was the best burger we've ever had. And the home made frys are awesome. Highly recommended.

This is a really cool place to come for lunch on the weekends. The food is awesome, and the staff is fantastic. If you're in a hurry you might be disappointed as this place can get super busy. That being said, you're not in the city, so relax, slow down and enjoy a delicious beverage...... It's with the wait! There is so much to look at in this place.

Good burger. If you complain about this place you got issues. Waitress was great. Food was excellent. I will be back. Neat overall mill. If busy you must wait oh well that's how it is. I had excellent service and food was fairly quick. Keep it up

My name is David I took a drive up to the Mill restaurant today with my Dad and had the best green chili verde ever!!!! The bartenders kept us very well entertained while keeping beers in hand. We build them a fire. Well worth the drive, I'll definitely be back and soon!! Best place in town, hands down!

Took the ride up here from Phoenix via Bumble Bee. I have been here before so was prepared for the limited choices available for dining. On a whim we decided to go here rather than the Saloon. I can't compare them since I have not been to the saloon. The place was built in the 1990's, but looks like it has been here forever. Unpretentious and lots of fun stuff to look at. On to the food. The couple at the next table said the green chile was outstanding, and was it ever! Lots of chunky beef and veggies and a delicious flavor. A must order. Two of us had hamburgers which are ground in house. Topped with everything it was delicious and cooked to a perfect medium. Plenty of avocado, perfectly cooked bacon and grilled onions that are to die for. Served on your choice of home baked bread. The fries were fresh cut and fried to golden perfection. The other thing ordered was the grilled cheese, which was huge and very crispy. It was not crowded mid afternoon on a Fri., and we got very friendly and helpful service from Audra. Give this place a try. I think you will be pleased with the overall "real" AZ experience. Say hi to Audra if you go.

After a morning drive from Prescott we ended up at The Mill. We were greeted by Audra, she was warm welcoming and a bit sassy. Its a destination spot - needing some sassiness! There were 5 adults and 2 children in our party. We enjoyed that they had good beers on tap and a good lunch menu with several options. Although most of us went for the burgers. All of the burgers were cooked perfectly and the tomatoes, lettuce, onions etc. were all fresh and good. The only thing that could of used help was the Fries...soggy and a bit greasy. A children's menu - even if its limited, would be good too. Other than that, the Mill is a fun place to enjoy Crown King and the service was great!

Went up to Crown King with another couple heard about this quaint little town. Stopped in at the restaurant called "The Mill". What a spectacular place filled with history & charm. Had one of the best meals ever, it was some kind of stew? It wasn't on the menu, so make sure you ask the waitress Audra (what a delight she was, witty, spunky & full of charm, just like the restaurant) what the specials are. It was the best!!!! I can't remember exactly, but I think it was called pork chili verde, it was the best chili, stew, or whatever it was, it certainly hit the spot, definitely will be back to have some more. :-)

Horrible service and unfriendly staff. I didn't even stick around to sample the food. I left before it came.

The Mill is awesome!, this is true Crown King Experience in this rustic no fluff restaurant, the waitresses are awesome & make you feel at home with alittle bit of attitude and down home friendliness. The food is very tasty, we enjoy all the menu choices My husbands favorite meal here is the open face Reuben and mine is the chile mushroom burgers moist and delicious plus of course the fries are really good. Can't wait for our next trip up!

Drove down Senator Hwy from Prescott and had lunch. Two of us are vegetarians and ordered the veggie melt. It was adequate (although could've been improved by melted swiss rather than the sprinkling of queso fresco). OTOH, our carnivore companion had a patty melt and swore it was the best burger she'd ever had! Presumably home-made potato salad and cole slaw were great, but ice tea was so weak it could've been colored water.

The ambiance of The Mill is incredibly hard to achieve. Set above the town, in the pines, build of wood, The Mill is decorated like a restaurant you would find in the days of the Wild West. Walking in, you feel like you've been transported. Then you are brought back into reality very quickly. After you pick your dinner off of the white board menu, you get to pick your seat. I went with the Pork Loin Medallions, but had no clue what sides I was getting or what the medallions would be cooked in, since the white board didn't give any descriptions. Turns out a dry rub was put on the medallions, then the cook was very literal and make my medallions very dry. Plus, I got to eat some vegetables soaked in oil, and potatoes swimming in butter. This is so bad... my medallions were so dry I had to dip my pork in my husband's barbecue sauce that he had on his pork spare ribs. We were given the same side dishes, in addition to a starter salad and some really good homemade beer bread. After 7 years of coming to Crown King and owning a cabin up here, I am glad I finally tried The Mill. But my loyalty to CK businesses only goes so far, and I will not be returning.

I'm usually covered in dust or mud from the backroad, but that's par for the course in Crown King - only to be rewarded with some great food and rustic ambience at the Mill - steak, ribs, their great open-faced Reuben Sandwich - can't think of a better way to compliment a journey into the Bradshaw Mountains...

We are from Wisconsin and stay the winter in Surprise. During our three winters here, we have taken the trip to Crown King seven times and have eaten at the Mill each time. We wouldn't miss it. The chili is awesome, and just like at home, it may taste a little different each time but it is great (lunchtime). The chili was a little different once, so the cook came out and sat down with us for a chit chat. On weekends the menu varies and the food was delicious as usual - the cook once again came out and spoke to us and to our surprise he spoke Phillipine to our Phillipine friend, We love the rustic charm and the antiquity of this place, it's homely and different and takes you to a different place in time. The bathrooms could be improved a bit but I chalk it up to the rustic atmosphere. We won't stop going there ever. We love this little town and the Mill, to us, is worth every penny.
